Don't worry! I'm still alive....

This semester at school has been very interesting, here are the highlights...

- Almost done my Art instruction school stuff (which has been dragging on since 2004)
- I have a new job
- I've started a program for myself and I'm excited about where it will take me
- One very tragic thing happened (it was so random too! :S)
- I'm saving to take my mom and I to Virgina
- I got to see my cousin for Chirstmas!!

All I need to do is finish a few more works for my portfoilio and I'll have finished my art instruction schools! I'm going to use the rest of the holidays to do just that. I feel like I've slacked a lot with drawing just for fun, it'll be good to get back into that.
I work at a used book store! It's been a hell of an education. I've been here since sometime in mid October and I'm really liking the job :) My boss was a little reluctant on hiring me because I'm not a University English Grad, but he seemed to have a change of heart when I explained thatIt's really just getting used to titles and authors.
I've started a meditation program through an organization called Synchronicity, it has proven to work too, which is the very interesting part of it. (I'll enter a journal about my experience a bit later).
The tragic thing that happened was that a man and a little girl I knew from Synchronicity (Alan Scherr & Naomi Scherr) were shot by terrorists in Mumbai, India on November 26th 2008. (more on that later too)
My mom also practises Meditation in Synchronicity, I'm currently saving up so my mom and I can take a trip out to Virginia in May. Synchronicity is located in the Blue Ridge mountains of Faber, Virginia. We would both love to take a meditaion retreat down there.
I hardly ever get to see my relatives because they're all living in England. My cousin and His girlfriend dropped by Christmas eve, to say hello and catch up. It was lovely.

I'll touch back on this tonight

In a mess at the moment

I'm staying at my friends place during this week because my brothers room is being renovated. So there probably wont be any posts for this week. I just finished a brochure which is getting printed this week. I'm also half way through the portfolio for Art Instruction schools. I'll get my portfolio review back sometime during late September, and that's when the hard work will set in. It'll be like taking two full time courses at the same time!!!! I'm also working on a poster for "Box Monster Toys and Art" it's my new logo, hopefully i can get some tags done for the business name too. I'm interested in registering the name when I have a bit of money. It's about $60 something to register I think.

VeggieDeaths & DinoSquares in Rarefunk!!

This is it! DinoSquares and VeggieDeaths are selling in Kitchener at Rarefunk 8 Duke St east, they match the colours of the store and look great! Dinos are selling for $25 and VeggieDeaths $7. I kept the price the same at Karma Art Gallery so nobody finds the nasty surprise of price change. Snap shots are going up soon, in the mean time, a logo of Muddle Box is in the process of being created for a business card and for the RareFunk site. DinoSqaures and VeggieDeaths are going on the RareFunk site next month (September 2008). In the meantime, have a peek at the RareFunk site in my links!!!

The logo

The New veggie death logo will be seen on the tags! I can't wait to print!!!! I'm thinking of using lots of brightly coloured ink in printing.

Dinos up for sale! Veggie Deaths on the way...

I brought the first batch of Dinos to a store called Karma Art Supply & Gallery. The hand made beasts are selling for $25 each. I'm also happy to announce Veggie Deaths will be released in a store soon! Veggie Deaths will sell for $5 each.

I finally finished the painstaking process of painting a large table for an expensive restaurant called Del Dente. I was given a graphic to flip horizontal and enlarge. I like enlarging things on a grid, it's fun and the end product is exciting to see! This was painted with your regular acrylic paint. It will be Varnished, and soon will be placed in Del Dente for hopefully a long time to come!
Maybe someday (when I have the money) I'll go to the restaurant and sit at my table.

New things help old things.

I found a toy designer on drawn.ca which has given me a bit of hope, that yes! There are some amazing toy designers out there. This one has really inspired me to do something different but still using the same good ol' Dinos! Check out the felt mistress link!!

Stweet awt!?

I found a neat website that really suits the style I like to work with...well, there's more than one style in this book, but the really graphic looking stuff with the thick outlined characters is what I love. Take a look!

Grape Gorilla!

Remember the gorilla in my older post? If you happened to stumble upon him and you want to know more, he is a character design for an upcoming videogame that stars a Baboon and a Fish man!
I'm collaborating with my hunny (Dan) to make the most awesome of awesome videogames. He's a programmer, and I'm a graphics geek...what could be more romantic???? (bleh)

Robots!?

This is a DinoRobie. It still has the look of the DinoSquare, it's just a different character. My favorite part of him is his belly button!

DINO DINO DINOSQUARES!

This is a toy design project I've been working on since July 2007. The designs are called DinoSquares. They WILL eat your cookies, so beware. Most of these guys are made from your regular felt (preferably bright colours, because the brighter the better---unless you're emo or something like that.) I have started to create them out of ANY fabric your mind can imagine, so they're heading in a different direction every time.
One of the
newest additions to the collection are DinoRobies. They're robots but in the style of the Squares.
Enjoy!
